BCS London Office, The Davidson Building, 5 Southampton Street, London, WC2E 7HA

Kevin Streater  is a leading authority on ICT education. He is Executive Director responsible for the ICT education provided by the Open University, a member of Council for BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, a member of Council for the SFIA Foundation - the UK national body which defines the "Skills Framework for the Information Age", a member of the BCS Academy board, and a Chartered Fellow of BCS. Kevin has led ICT education in both academia with the Open University, and in industry heading up customer education in the UK for Sun Microsystems.

As a senior member of BCS and SFIA Kevin is deeply involved in the UK's efforts to understand, codify and promote the skills and attributes which ICT leaders must exhibit to be effective contributors to the organisations they lead. In this talk for BCS ELITE he will map the pathways to the development of an effective Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the skills they must acquire en-route.

This event is a rare opportunity to learn from one of the few experts in the field - What makes a good CIO / IT Director? It will be invaluable to any IT professional who aspires to become a CIO, IT Director or a senior manager within IT, and it will be highly informative to all corporate leaders and recruitment professionals in learning more about what characteristics distinguish successful CIOs, and what to look for when hiring IT leaders.

We will hold a brief Annual General Meeting immediately before the discussion which ELITE members are encouraged to attend.
