IT Strategy: Are you ready for the war against Cybercrime?...

Thursday 14 April 2016

1.00pm - 5.00pm

The Library of Birmingham, Centenary Square, Broad Street, Birmingham, B1 2ND

Recent high profile security breaches at Ashley Madison, TalkTalk and JD Wetherspoons have brought the protection of personal and enterprise data into the public consciousness. Businesses are facing ever more sophisticated approaches, while the customer data they hold grows in value. Those that fail to protect it find themselves catapulted into in the media and legislative spotlight.

Security is not just about implementing technical controls though. Effective security is about embedding good practice within the organisation, changing the behaviour of staff and implementing a governance structure that reconciles security with an excellent user experience.

Harj Singh from Aristi will explore these issues in detail. Vicky Clayton from TDX group will then discuss various methods of technical and organisational InfoSec oversight and the importance of a blended and innovative approach to security.

We are then pleased to welcome a case study presentation from David Deighton from University of Birmingham who will share his thoughts on the unique security threats faced within a University environment and how they plan to combat those going forward.

Paul Hegarty will close the presentations by talking through the threat and risk landscape for Rolls-Royce and relating the IT Security journey through business transformation to global presence. This will be followed with a discussion on how Rolls-Royce are approaching the task of imagining their future cyber capability.
