Recent high profile security breaches at Ashley Madison, TalkTalk and JD Wetherspoons have brought the protection of personal and enterprise data into the public consciousness. Businesses are facing ever more sophisticated approaches, while the customer data they hold grows in value. Those that fail to protect it find themselves catapulted into in the media and legislative spotlight.

As almost all of us rely on the cloud for many of the digital services we take for granted, the risk of our digital lives being on show for anyone with the skills to access them is very real indeed. Paul Vlissidis from NCC Group will highlight this risk by sharing how he successfully managed to hack into a journalist’s online life...

About the speakers:

Paul Vlissidis is the Technical Director at NCC Group. With over 25 years’ experience in IT, Paul is a recognised expert on all aspects of IT and cyber security. Paul is a regular commentator on cyber security in the national press and broadcast media and led the cyber team for the popular and well-reviewed Hunted series on Channel 4.

Paul is a strong advocate of professionalization and standards in the security industry and was a founding member of the security testing industry body CREST (Council of Registered Ethical Security Testers). He is also an experienced advisor to industry and government on technical cyber risk management.

Steve Byrne is the Lead Information Security Officer at DWF and has over 20 years' experience in information risk, privacy and security and a further 9 years in information technology for a number of financial institutions and a Law Firm. Steve’s professional memberships include ISACA: Information Systems Audit and Control Association. ISC²®: International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc.

Antonio Rodriguez is the Information Security Officer at who are a Manchester based leading e-commerce travel business. Antonio has nearly 20 years experience and has built up the following certifications: CRISC, ITIL V3, CISM, CISA, CISSP, CCNA, CompTIA Security+.

Adam Warne is the Group IT Director at, a Bolton based leading online retailer. Adam is a firm believer that innovation is never hampered by a lack of ideas, but rather a lack of detecting the significance and substance of ideas that already exist. As a result, Adam is driven to leverage technology in smart and bold ways for the benefit of both of external and internal customers.
