Business Transformation Processes and IT: Experiences at the Post Office

Thursday 23 May 2013, 5.30pm - 7.30pm

Kevin Lenihan, The Post Office

The Post Office is at a critical point in its 500 year history. It may no longer face threats from highwaymen attacking mail coaches but competition and technological advances have changed customer shopping habits and introduced alternative channels. The Post Office business operates in many and diverse Business environments and faces significant and growing competition across all sectors. In April 2012 it separated from Royal Mail and is currently in the middle of a 3 year £1.3 billion business transformation programme. The IT function has to adapt, anticipate, advise and collaborate with the Business to ensure that overall direction and strategy is both aligned and enabled. The Post Office’s ability to respond to the challenges facing it, will ultimately determine whether not only its brand, but also its service remains both relevant and loved by its customers.
