The volume and nature of data generated and captured by commercial and public organisations is growing at an exponential rate.  Simultaneously the market is offering advances in technology products to store, manage and exploit that data. Meanwhile there is new legislation on data protection which requires review and potentially change to applications to ensure their compliance. Organisations are recognising the inherent value and risks in the data they handle and recognising the need for both a strategic and operational response to the commercial and legal challenges presented. In response many have appointed to the role of Chief Data Officer (CDO) or equivalent in order to oversee the increasing demands within this domain. This evening’s event is an opportunity to hear from several experts with significant experience meeting the new and increasing challenges around enterprise data.

We are fortunate to have:

  • Caroline Carruthers, CDO Network Rail
  • Daniel Ray, Chief Data Scientist, NHS Digital
  • Alex Coley, Epimorphics and formerly Deputy Director for Data at DEFRA

Rather than have lengthy presentation, these three will help debate topics such as:

  • What is the role of the CDO?
  • How does the role of the CDO relate to the CIO/CTO and other senior level roles?
  • Tips for success

This event is suitable for anyone newly appointed to the role of CDO, people working in roles supporting the CDO or anyone with an interest in the strategic exploitation of data.
