There is much hype around big data, particularly in marketing. We are fortunate to be able secure Professor Stan Maklan from Cranfield University an expert in CRM and IT enabled marketing.

Stan will present three case studies from a low cost airline, and Just Eat. These will illustrate the benefits and challenges of using big data in marketing and the interactions between marketing, IT and data scientists.

Stan began his professional career with Unilever Canada, subsequently moving with that firm to the UK and Sweden, where he was Marketing Director of its Toiletries business. He then spent 10 years as a management consultant (customer relationship management and online marketing) with global leaders in information technology: Computer Sciences Corporation and Sapient. He established CSC UK's Customer Relationship Management practice and then moved to a role within its European Consulting and global management research unit (Research Services). His PhD research explored how firms change their marketing competencies when developing direct relationships with consumers online.
