Over two years in, the project has reaped over 150 high profile clients, with plans for further expansion.

In 2006 it was identified that the Auto Trader search engine was nearing its end of life. Auto Trader partnered with Endeca to implement a solution to satisfy Auto Trader's position as 'the number 1 marketplace for motorists'. The project team optimised the system which resulted in a 280% performance increase. The engine delivered over 80 million searches to more than 9 million unique users in June 2008, and improved the users' ability to navigate and evaluate vehicles.

To effectively manage London Underground stations and plan its network services for the purpose of cost reduction, operational efficiency and increasing customer satisfaction, the real-time information on platforms status such as crowd congestion and punctuality of train service is becoming increasingly important. This project develops a novel computational approach to extracting such information by analysing real-time video feeds from surveillance cameras. Subsequently, this information is made available by an end-to-end Web-based information system service to both operators and end users.

Two years ago, the National Insurance Administration initiated a project to upgrade the communications infrastructure it used to connect to its business partners: the pharmacies, hospitals and general practitioners' offices. This was the first large scale commercial deployment of the ebXML 'open' communication standard as defined by OASIS (www.oasis-open.org) for the secure transfer of data over public networks. It has successfully linked and allowed the secure exchange between the National Insurance Administration and 3000+ Doctors, Pharmacy and Hospital organisations.

The Mobile Stop & Search initiative was developed by Arrk Group, a global technology services company, expert in the delivery of complex, bespoke mobile and web applications and is sold as an off the shelf solution by Airwave, the leading secure network operator and packaged solutions provider to the UK's Emergency Services.

Emotional Support Through SMS
Samaritans

Samaritans text service offers a unique arena for young people to express feelings they are not able to share with family or friends, helping them to avoid isolation and feel more able to cope at difficult times, in line with Samaritans vision for a society in which fewer people die by suicide. Over 10,000 texts a month have been received from people in distress since the pilot project began in 2006, with 63% of contacts from people aged 10-24-years-old.
