Rory Canavan, Corporate Advisor to over 400 companies in the North of England will give a presentation on the Federation Against Software Theft's Approach to Licence Compliance & Software Asset Management. The presentation will include a potted history of FAST; areas of risk a company should consider; a snapshot of some of the legislation involved in backing up the FAST programme; the benefits of auditing and how the FAST programme actually works.

Rory has had a varied career to date, starting off as a Writer in the Royal Navy before giving up the high seas to study Computing and Informatics at the University of Plymouth. After two spells working for Compaq, and a return to the University of Plymouth to study for an MSc in Business & Management, Rory returned to the IT fold in Nov 07, taking up the role of Corporate Advisor for FAST in the North of England.

His role typically includes offering guidance and support on the approach companies take with the FAST programme, giving training on the Project Management and Software Auditing courses that FAST run, ratifying policies and procedures and conducting on-site inspections to ensure companies are worthy of the award of the FAST Standard for Software Compliance (FSSC-1).
