Women Shaping the Future of Wales

ITWales’ annual celebration of International Women’s Day, “Women Shaping the Future of Wales” will take place this year at The Villege Hotel in Swansea on the evening of Tuesday 9th March.  

Now in its 9th year, “Women Shaping the Future of Wales” provides an insight into the diverse range of business and career opportunities for women in the 21st Century and offers a platform for sharing experiences, knowledge and best practice for women working with science and technology.

Our 2010 event is supported by BCS South Wales, and will also see the launch of the ‘Women@BCS in Wales’ group.

Speakers from previous years have included: Laura Tenison, Managing Director, JoJo Maman Bébé Limited; Judy Haynes, Operations Director, Box UK; Ann Beynon, Director Wales, BT; Trudi Norris Grey, Vice President and Managing Director, Sun Microsystems UK Ltd.

This year the event will be hosted by Broadcaster Mai Davies and the confirmed speakers are:

  • Anna Bastek, Co-founder, Wolfestone Translation Ltd
  • Dr Mikhaila Burgess, Lecturer, Cardiff School of Computer Science, Cardiff University
  • Helen Bowden, Director, The Wave & Swansea Sound

This year the event will commence with a drinks reception at 6.30pm, with guests seated for supper at 7pm. Our inspirational speakers will take the stage at 8.30pm following the supper, and proceedings draw to a close at 10pm, although guests are welcome to enjoy drinks and networking until 11pm.
