UbiSoft to launch green packaging

Ubisoft, a market leader in video game developing, has announced new details of a green packaging initiative.

The firm has revealed that it is to eliminate the use of paper instruction manuals in its video game packaging.

It said that from now on all its game titles on Playstation3 and Xbox 360 will feature a digital manual contained within the information stored on the disk.

The first title to use the new system, which Ubisoft claimed will save more than 6,000lbs of CO2 and 15,000 gallons of waste water, will be Shaun White Skateboarding.

Commenting on the news Olympic gold medallist White, said: 'It's pretty cool that Ubisoft is making a conscious effort to go green with its new video game packaging.

'I'm excited for my new skateboarding game to come out and stoked that it will be the very first Ubisoft game to be part of their green packaging initiatives.'

Shaun White Skateboarding is set to be released later this year.
