Rowers celebrating success BCS is bringing out version 3 of its IT training and development standard SFIAplus in early April.

Containing new and updated skills it will add more capabilities to all of the BCS professional development products.
BCS members can access, free of charge, one of the individual professional development products to allow them access to the SFIAplus standard.

These products, such as CareerBuilder and Browse SFIAplus, will include the new updates that version 3 will bring. Company schemes, such as Skills Manager, will also include the new updates.
The new version contains 17 new and updated skills with greater emphasis on business change, wireless and web technology, service management, security and IT governance and compliance.

Other new features on SFIAplus version include: closer mapping between skills tasks and the ITIL® framework; the relationship with e-government role; and ISEB and professional examination qualifications.
If you are an existing SFIAplus user, you will continue to have access to job descriptions created using previous versions with the option to upgrade when ready.
The Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) is the high-level UK government-backed competencies framework describing the roles within IT and the skills to fulfil them. BCS expands on this by adding detailed training and development resources to create its product SFIAplus.
