Have your say on the future of BCS

We have sent you an invitation to participate in the BCS member consultation - this is your opportunity to shape BCS and our profession.

We want to know what really matters to you as a professional and how you think BCS can better represent you and your profession. Should we shift the focus and priorities of our activities? Are there other ways we should be serving society? Is our name right for the 21st century?

To gauge your opinions and to collect your ideas, we ‘re sending the consultation survey to our members.

You’ll have already received the survey to your email inbox (assuming you’ve not told us previously to stop sending similar communications). Search FROM: BCS Research <surveys@webhost.snapsurveys.com> in your inbox to find the survey link.  If you can’t find it, you should receive a reminder email soon.

The survey should take no more than 10 - 15 minutes, and it is time well spent as its findings will inform the future direction of our community and our profession.

What is the consultation?
We're asking all members for their views on BCS, the IT industry, and our role in it. The basis of the consultation is a detailed survey.

When does the consultation open and when does it close?
It opened on 10th September, and closes 5th November 2018.

What will BCS do with the results of the consultation?
Analysis of the results will be presented to Trustee Board and Council for their review. Trustee Board will ultimately decide what happens next.

When do you expect to see any changes being implemented?
We don't know what the outcomes will be so this is impossible to determine at this stage, if there are any changes as a result.

Why is BCS doing this consultation?
It's about understanding who we are, how we see ourselves as an organisation, and what (if anything) we need to change in response to the feedback that we receive. By better understanding who we are and what we do we would expect our relevance to members, the IT profession and wider society to increase.

How do members answer the consultation survey?
They will be sent an email with a unique link, they must use that link to access the survey. This is to ensure the integrity of the results of the consultation.

Is the consultation anonymous?
Yes, it's completely anonymous.

What if a member loses the link to the survey?
They will need to contact Customer Services to request a new link.
