SYNOPSIS

This event will be an interactive opportunity for all attendees to develop their knowledge about what diversity and equality mean in the 21st century. BCS Berkshire covers many areas of diversity within its membership and recognises the benefits this brings.

Pete will cover all elements covered by the Equality Act, looking specifically at some of the hidden areas and at some contemporary subjects such as neuro-diversity and shared parental leave. He will also cover the concept of reasonable adjustments in the workplace, including the Access to Work programme.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY

Pete Self is BCS Berkshire’s Diversity & Inclusion Officer, and a Solution Architect who has worked across a range of clients and programmes since graduating from the University of Plymouth.

He has worked across the public and private sectors for many years, on projects ranging from application portfolio rationalisation programmes for multinational telcos through customer experience improvements in the brewing industry to data centre migrations in manufacturing. This experience has enabled him to become a high-quality agile consultant who works effectively with the client on their problem.

In his free time, Pete maintains a keen interest in innovation and technical subjects around the home and hobbies such as photography and the outdoors.

Pete has an up-to-date understanding of UK legislation on Diversity and Inclusion. He speaks from the personal experience, having a hidden recognised disability. Many of our members do too, and Pete is keen to help them all.
