SYNOPSIS

AI based Human Motion Research, presented by Yanran Li
Understanding human motion is one of the most fundamental problems for it has various practical applications in computer animation, human interaction robots, computer vision and computer graphics. Especially for the human interaction robotics or virtual characters in computer games, they are supposed to not only respond to the opponents’ movements but also have a pre-emptive ability to predict future movements. For animation production, motion synthetic techniques can be utilised to generate new motion data automatically so that the animators can avoid a lot of manual work and time. This talk will introduce the recent advanced approaches to understand human motions by Artificial Intelligence technologies and the related motion applications which are changing our world. The challenges and future applications of human motion researches will be discussed in this speech.

An interactive graph-network predictor for physically based bone removal mesh deformations to train reaming skill in total hip replacement procedures

Mara Catalina Aguilera-Canon, on An interactive graph-network predictor for physically based bone removal mesh deformations to train reaming skill in total hip replacement procedures. She received her Bachelor in  Mechanical Engineering at "Universidad Nacional de Colombia" in Bogota, Ccolombia. She was awarded the "Young Engineers" scholarship in 2014 for an exchange year in the "Technical university of Munich" were she attended master classes for the medical technology department. She did her placement at B.Braun - Aesculap (Tuttlinge, Germany), analysing the wear-off rate on hip and knee implants. She was employed for her bachelor dissertation by the same company and worked on augmented reality applications for medical technologies. Currently she is a final year PhD student, member of the NCCA and ORI institutes at BU, researching surgical simulation training alternatives for total hip replacement

This event is joint between Animation and Games Hampshire Branch and Bournemouth UNiversity as part of British Sciencve Week 2020
