Tell us a bit about yourself
I'm a trainee teacher, learning the subject of computing alongside teaching it. As a trainee I teach a variety of year 7, 8 and 10 classes.
Teaching had always been my dream career. Now it’s finally coming true and I'm enjoying every minute of it!
I'm also building on my programming skills and enjoying that too.
Tell us about your proudest moment so far?
I think my proudest moment was when I began teaching my year 10 class for the first time. I was really nervous about teaching them as my computer science knowledge is not yet that great. But after the lesson, some of the students said to me: "Miss, that was a really fun lesson and we learnt a lot from it". They also added, "we knew when we saw you that you would make an amazing teacher".
I couldn’t have been happier that day.
What made you get into teaching?
I’ve always wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, so this is like a dream come true. The only reason I hadn’t made the move into teaching until now was due to family commitments.
What advice would you give someone thinking about becoming a teacher?
I would totally recommend it. It's one of those careers where you’re rewarded every day by seeing your students achieve something. It gives you the satisfaction that you’ve changed someone’s life for the better which is a great feeling to have.
