Who is it for?

  • This qualification is aimed at anyone who needs to have an advanced understanding of data protection and who have already passed the original BCS Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection - 2011 Syllabus, prior to January 2018, and who wishes to update their understanding of GDPR with the enactment of the UK Data Protection Act.

Entry requirements

  • Candidates must hold the BCS Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection (with a pass prior to 31 January 2018).

What will I learn?

By achieving the GDPR Update qualification, candidates will:

  • Update their recognised qualification in data protection.
  • Gain an understanding of the key changes and associated implications that the GDPR introduces for your organisation.
  • Be prepared for the GDPR changes that occurred with the enactment of the UK Data Protection Act in 2018.
  • Gain an understanding of the practical application of the new requirements of the GDPR and UK Data Protection Act 2018 associated with the role of the data protection officer (DPO), restrictions of data subject rights, data protection by design and by default and data breach notifications.
