About the role

Computing At School’s vision is that every school is able to provide every child with the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills to thrive in the digital age. As a Community Outreach Manager you will be responsible for the management and delivery of the CAS Communities of Practice programme across an allocation.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for effective delivery of the Computing At School Communities of Practice programme;
  • Create plans for the CAS Communities of Practice programme in your allocation that meet strategic objectives and key performance indicators;
  • Work closely with the National Community Manager and other Community Outreach Managers to build cohesive plans, share successes and identify risks to the overall programme;
  • Maintain an awareness of economic, social, political, environmental and technological developments to keep activity relevant and targeted;
  • Be sensitive to the views and perspectives of stakeholders about the landscape surrounding computing education in the UK;
  • Establish highly effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to generate commitment to our goals;
  • Oversee and maintain an effective network of volunteers, using own initiative to respond to regional challenges, seeking out areas of development and continuous improvement whilst flexing resource accordingly;
  • Drive and stimulate engagement of schools, colleges, teachers, school leaders, employers, academia and others with the regional CAS community;
  • The Post holder will be accountable for performance against the following key measures:
    • Number of active CAS Communities of Practice (in defined allocation
    • Number of teachers reached through CAS Community of Practice activity in:
      • Primary non-priority areas
      • Primary priority areas
      • Secondary non-priority areas
      • Secondary priority areas
    • Stimulation of the CAS online community
    • Developing and implementing a strategy to attract a defined group to the CAS community
    • Quality of feedback from CAS local community leaders
    • Quality of feedback from teachers attending CAS local Communities of Practice
  • Flexibility is required of all job holders to adjust responsibilities as required from time to time by their Line Manager/Divisional Director;

Education
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Teaching qualification
  • A training qualification is desirable
Experience
  • Demonstrable experience of the Computing Education landscape in the UK
  • Proven teaching experience
  • Proven teacher training experience
  • Proven experience of delivering successful outcomes and inspiring others
Competencies and skills
  • Able to inspire and influence at all levels
  • Tenacity, professionalism and integrity as well as the drive and pragmatism to get things done
  • Adept at managing complex internal and external stakeholder relationships
