Industrial Assessor Recruitment for BCS Accreditation Panels

As you may be aware BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, carries out accreditation visits to universities and colleges all over the UK to consider courses for IEng, CEng, CSci and CITP accreditation.

Accreditation visits use a process of peer review with the voluntary participation of members of the Academic Accreditation Committee (AAC) and members of both the Academic and Industrial Register of Assessors.

The Institute is currently seeking Industrial assessors to contribute to this important work.

This person would be called upon approximately once a year, in a voluntary capacity to participate in an accreditation visit. This usually involves an overnight stay and the review of documentation prior to the visit. The criteria are as follows:

Essential criteria:

  • MBCS/FBCS and at least one of CITP, CEng or CSci
  • Active in the profession (e.g. with appropriate experience in education, industry, consultancy and other BCS activities)
  • Experience of external examining OR involvement with internal / external quality assurance
 

Desirable criteria:

  • Some involvement with HE-industry links
  • Some involvement with quality assurance activities, either in education or industry
  • Active involvement with BCS
  • Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Scientist

a) your experience of engagement in quality assurance within a Higher Education context (e.g. as an external examiner)

and / or

b) your involvement with Higher Education (e.g. as a judge for undergraduate projects, a member of a University’s industrial liaison panel or as a placement provider / assessor
