Advanced Programming Specialist Group

For over 50 years, the Advanced Programming Specialist Group of BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, has tracked leading edge programming and software technologies, and their application within a real world context.

Unlike other specialist groups, Advanced Programming concentrates on the new ideas underlying recent developments and is not confined to particular programming languages, paradigms or development methodologies.

The Group meets once a month from October to the following May. Meetings usually start at 6pm, with tea and coffee available from 5.30pm, and comprise a technical talk by a specialist speaker, followed by questions and a discussion.

Admission to meetings is free, but participants should register by sending an e-mail to the Membership Secretary. Please use the e-mail address listed at the foot of the page for the meeting in question.

Current events are listed in the column on the left, but event details may change from time to time so please check regularly. Past events may also be accessed via the entry in the left hand column. In most cases, the speaker's slides in PDF form have been included with the description of each event to enable later reference. Audio and/or video recordings of many recent events are also available. Please check the announcement page for each event for details. We also broadcast most events live on YouTube

All BCS members are welcome to attend group meetings. Non-members are also welcome as guests, but officers of the group must be BCS members. If you do not already receive email notifications of meetings you can subscribe to the Group's email list
