Joint event with the BCS Hampshire Branch, Southampton Solent University, BCSWomen SG, BCS Consultancy SG, BCS e-Learning SG and BCS Quality SG.

This event is free, open to all, but please book through the BCS website, www.bcs.org/events/registration both for BCS members and non-members for arranging refreshments and particularly as the numbers are limited.

We invite you to explore the way you want to learn in 2011 and what you want to learn to complement your Technical IT and management capabilities.

The workshop sessions will include a demonstration of a recorded webinar and will elicit your preferences for e-learning programmes on a range of business and soft skills as IT professionals.

Our experience tells us that real learning takes place through a variety of learning styles but essentially via a process of input, reflection and discovery plus facilitating action in a number of ways. Consultation has provided enrichment events to BCS Hampshire Branch for several years run at Southampton Solent, to specialist groups and to London branches audiences run at the Southampton Street venue in London.

The topics so far have covered:

  1. Winning Business in a Recession - networking skills including an assessment and the emotional intelligence involved in winning business
  2. Consulting Skills including an assessment
  3. Influencing skills and Political Intelligence - making politics at work more positive and making it work for you.
  4. Working through Others - Strengths at work; an assessment of different qualities and how to develop oneself as a manager.
  5. Analysing problems using 5QF- a technique applied to managers at work
  6. Leadership within the context of organisational climate and culture
  7. Emotional Intelligence explained for IT people

Many more topics are possible and this is your chance to analyse your needs and establish your development preferences.
