Synopsis:

CMA Postponed its January conference which included a strong theme about Broadband and the regulatory issues around it. We shall use the issues raised in this Conference to shape the agenda for an event in October after the Parliamentary summer recess where we shall challenge the new Government to deliver 21st Century infrastructure. (Date to be announced at this meeting)

Infrastructure

Many businesses with mature and well managed network infrastructure are now struggling with new pressures which put it at risk. (e.g. IoT, Building Management, Video) These require supporting a diverse range of additional devices which rely on the mature network for connectivity, power and data backhaul. Video volumes are swamping Data throughput and ownership and management of the network is unclear. The first session will consider these from Network Management and CISO Viewpoints and will conclude with a presentation discussing what a modern Data Centre can offer as an alternative.

Mobility

Enterprise Mobility has matured over the last 3 years and the issues of supporting the personal needs of the employees together with the business needs of the employer have caused much debate. It is not just about mobile phones. As businesses become nodes in “Smart Cities” interacting with their local environment and community these employees as citizens or consumers interact through different channels. The business needs to define its boundaries and the risks in opening them up. The final session is an update from one of the earliest adopters of BYOD and looks at future challenges.

Forthcoming Challenges.

Whether we like it or not UK Businesses are driven by international issues and if we are to be major players in the global Digital Economy we shall have to adapt or shape their infrastructure, policies and strategy. This session will consider some of the issues which will need to be addressed in the next few years including Net Neutrality, SDM, WebRTC, IoT, 5G etc.

There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion and networking.
