Synopsis:

BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, champions the global IT profession and the interests of individuals engaged in that profession for the benefit of all. The Institute fosters links between experts from industry, academia and business to promote new thinking, education and knowledge sharing.

Globally, we have 70,000 members and our mission is to enable the information society.

In Jersey, the Chartered Institute for IT has 280 members and is very active in the community - working with education, businesses, individuals and other bodies such as Digital Jersey. The Institute has hosted twenty five events during 2011/2012 and is actively supporting the current schools 'Computer Clubs' initiative.

I am sure you have seen the reports in the press and posts on LinkedIn concerning ICT education in Jersey. The Jersey Branch of the Chartered Institute for IT (BCS) is working with Digital Jersey and the States of Jersey Education department to help 'energise' ICT education, in order to make it a subject of choice for students.

In support of ICT education and promoting the successes of students, the Jersey branch of the Chartered Institute for IT has been running a 'Digital Content' competition with the schools. The competition has been open to all Jersey schools and students and is designed to fit with the school curriculum. We have had an excellent response, with 400 entries and some very innovative ideas.

The prize giving will be held at the Jersey Opera House on Tuesday 17 July at 5pm.

This is a short event (not a late night one!) and is your chance to celebrate the success of the students and show them that they have the support of the island.

Please find the time to come to the Opera House after work and show your support.
