ECDL Advanced allows learners to develop their existing skills and expertise to support workplace demands. ECDL Advanced is accredited on both the QCF (England and Wales) and SCQF (Scotland) framework.

    ECDL Advanced units
    Word processing Examines the advanced features of word processing applications enabling learners to enhance their work, improve productivity and save time.
    Spreadsheet software Helps the learner develop their spreadsheet skills to expert level and realise the full potential of the spreadsheet application to produce higher-quality management information.
    Presentation software A vital unit for learners who want to use advanced features to create high-impact presentations, and demonstrate expert presentation skills.
    Database software Helps the learner to get more from database applications, by using the many advanced tools available to better organise and manage information.
    Improving productivity using IT Enables the learner to work more effectively with IT. This unit looks at using tools to save time and effort when producing word processed documents, presentations and spreadsheets.

    Qualification Aim:
    The aim of this qualification is to recognise the application of a range of IT user skills and knowledge in the workplace, meeting employer workforce demands.

    ECDL Advanced is a fixed combination qualification, which builds on existing knowledge of key software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and databases. The achievement can be used as credit transfer towards a flexible level 3 ITQ diploma.

    Are you an expert in computing? If you are, perhaps you should consider ECDL Expert. You will receive a free ECDL Expert certificate if you complete all of the following advanced modules: word processing, spreadsheet software, presentation software, databases.

    Show your expert status

    As an ECDL Expert you will not only receive a certificate which shows that you are a specialist in a wide range of applications, but also you will be eligible to become an associate member of BCS and be entitled to put the letters AMBCS after your name.

Important update

Important ECDL Advanced Testing Update
From September 2012, manual tests for ECDL Advanced Units (Word Processing, Spreadsheet Software, Presentation Software and Database Software) will be replaced with industry standard e-assessment. There are no additional charges to customers for this update. E-assessment offers many advantages over manual tests, including instant results for your learners and a real world experience as the testing system is 'in-application'.
