We welcome Gillian Arnold, MD of Tectre, her own recruitment company, which specialises in helping companies attract women into their technical teams. Her career has including working for IBM(UK) in a variety of technical, sales, strategic marketing and consultancy roles; establishing, managing and running teams supporting new software and hardware products with cross-industry and cross platform experience across the UK and Europe.

Gillian sits on the board of directors for the BCS and Women in Science, Engineering, Technology, Maths (WISE). She was also the Chair of the BCSWomen Specialist Group from 2011 to 2016 and now Chairs the European Taskforce for Women in IT for CEPIS. Gillian won the 2012 Cisco / Everywoman In Technology award for 'Technology Inspiration of the Year' and is regularly listed in the Computer Weekly ’50 Most Influential Women in IT’. Gillian will present ‘Unconcious Bias’ which will discuss how your background, personal experiences, societal stereotypes and cultural context can have an impact on your decisions and actions without you realising and that we may not even be aware of these views and opinions, or be aware of their full impact and implications.

Unconscious bias impacts not only on the recruitment decision, but the salary of the individual and the amount of development that is invested in their ongoing progression.Gillian will also speak about how to attract and retain Women in IT and make the most of the benefits that diverse teams can bring.
