TalkTalk, a leading provider of telephone and broadband services, has announced the launch of a new internet security product.
The firm's new HomeSafe service offers users virus alerts, parental controls and time-of-day blocking.
According to TalkTalk, HomeSafe is the UK's first network level broadband security device.
Tristia Clarke, commercial director of TalkTalk, said: '[Parents are] concerned about what sort of things their children could stumble across when they're surfing online.
'This is especially important now that children are regularly using devices like phones, and not just the main family PC, to access the internet. Our research found that 33 per cent of children aged between 12 and 17 years use their mobile phones to surf social networking sites and 29 per cent use it to instant message when at home.'
However, the expert told users that despite its comprehensive coverage, HomeSafe is not a 'silver bullet' and reminded parents of their responsibility to monitor their children's online activity.
