AGM 2011

The 41st Annual General Meeting of the Kingston and Croydon Branch of BCS was held on Tuesday 13 September 2011 at the Town House room 102, Kingston University.

Speaker Bio

Steve Shorey, IEng FIET. Steve joined the Metropolitan Police Service in 1984 to head up an Engineering team with responsibility for updating the Met’s ageing radio communications systems. From 1999-2005 Steve held a senior role in managing the Met’s drive to outsource its ICT services to the private sector. The award of a major contract to Capgemini 2005 was one of largest at that time. Since 2007 he has been at the heart of the Met’s team to plan and deliver ICT systems and services for the 2012 Olympics security operation.

Narrative

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be the largest sporting event ever held in the UK. This unique event brings a range of security challenges that are unprecedented in modern times. In this presentation Steve will gave a flavour of the scale of the events and the approach to the delivery of technology to support the security operation.
