Synopsis

A review some of the more interesting projects that Peter Visscher had had the privilege to take part in, and how this has led to a Canadian Lunar Rover Mission scheduled for 2026.

About the speaker

Peter Visscher

Mr. Visscher is a Mechanical Engineer with an extensive background in vehicle design for applications on the moon and down here on earth. As the General Manager of Canadensys’ Stratford facility, he leads a number of advanced vehicle design and prototyping activities, including hybrid electric military/industrial vehicles and lunar rovers for the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). Previously, Peter was the Vice President of Engineering at Ontario Drive & Gear Ltd. where he was responsible for new vehicle development. Peter led ODG’s Space/Robotics Division from its inception in 2008 and was responsible there for all lunar rover prototype and related technology development activities for CSA, where he oversaw the mechanical design of all of CSA’s 4-wheel rover prototypes built to date. He has extensive design, analysis, and manufacturing experience with real-world mobility performance as well as terrestrial off-road mobility.
