Synopsis

Dr Mona Ashok of the Henley Business School, Reading University, will give a presentation and answer questions on the pros and cons of (generative) artificial intelligence in business.

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in businesses is not new.

However, generative AI like ChatGPT has propelled the interest in digital transformation in businesses and their customers. Early adopters of generative AI have shown promising results like: improved customer experience, enhanced customer satisfaction, personalised services and marketing, better productivity, enriched interactions, etc.

However, businesses have to consider the challenges: AI requires good data (data literacy, integrated systems, data skills and capabilities, etc). The use of AI has additional responsibility to assess ethical issues like bias, privacy, security, fairness, autonomy, societal impact, dignity, safety etc.

The talk will be preceded at 7pm by a half hour branch AGM, including chair & treasurer reports for 2022-3.

Food and drinks can be purchased at the venue. Attendees are advised to do this before 7pm.

The venue will remain available to us until 10pm, so it will be possible to purchase refreshments after the talk also.
