A discussion about the challenges and risks of digitising health records.

Watch the video

Synopsis

Healthcare has historically lagged behind other industry sectors when it comes to digitising processes resulting in an ongoing challenge of hybrid electronic and paper records. As we finally move towards the 21st century and remove dependencies on paper, this introduces a set of risks around business continuity to ensure that patients are safe and staff are able to work in the event of an IT outage.

The presentation will cover some of the principles adopted at a large acute teaching hospital to mitigate risks, and describe the challenges associated with operating in a high pressure environment 24/7 with limited investment available.
