Unit A // Digital Audio

Sound waves Understanding digital audio concepts and how they affect what the end user hears.

In six two-hour lessons, students learn how digital audio is captured and stored, and the effects of different formats, sample rates and bit rates.

They learn how to import and organise audio and to edit it effectively so that their digital audio sequences can be delivered to their intended audience via a media player; audio organiser, the Internet or a portable music player.

The project within the unit is to use these skills to capture and store audio from analogue and digital sources in a form suitable for an intended audience and medium of distribution.
