The accessibility centre of excellence (ACE) network
Introduction
On 27 October 2009, BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, held an Accessibility Achievement Day to focus on the achievements of our Centres.
There were two new awards at this event. One focused on the achievements of BCS Approved Centres, to acknowledge their accessibility experience and expertise. The quality of the submissions was very high and we shortlisted 13 Centres.
Following on from the event, The Institute wishes to recognise the knowledge and expertise by setting up a formal network. The members of this network are identified as Accessibility Centres of Excellence (ACE).
We have started to put together information about the members of the ACE network on the following web pages. Included will be details of the successful submission that they made for the award, their areas of expertise and their contact details.
The objectives of the network will be:
- to act as a point of reference for Centres and candidates.
- to enhance the knowledge and understanding of accessibility.
- to support other Centres and candidates who are seeking advice and guidance.

- B - Behavioural, Emotional and Social
- C - Cognitive (dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties)
- P - Physical (mobility)
- S - Sensory (hearing and visual)
