BCS Training Practitioner week was a great success in raising the profile of training practitioners in IT across the IT community.
It's that time of year again – the security industry is gearing up for InfoSec 2010, again to be held in April in the Earl’s Court. One of the standing elements of the exhibition has been the Security Breaches Surveys run by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and it is time once again to gather data in order to produce another survey.
Welcome to my very first BCS blog - I’m Azaria, a relatively new face around the BCS offices. I joined the Institute in mid-2009, and I think the boys have had the monopoly on EdSpace for long enough! So, I hope you enjoy my new light-hearted subsection, the Technofiles (see what I did there?).- Cyber Security Challenge UK is a programme of national challenges, designed by experts, to identify and nurture the UK's future cyber security workforce. Established by a management consortium of key figures in cyber security, it will test the nation’s cyber skills, excite and inspire entrants to develop their talents, and clarify and enable pathways to the increasingly challenging and diverse range of cyber security jobs.
- Formed in 2008, the Information Security Forum (ISAF) was created to co-ordinate the awareness activities of its 23+ member organisations and to improve the communication of information risk issues to industry and the General Public.
- The final day of Training Practitioner week finds the best of the IT Training community waking up with a big smile on their faces having been successful in last night’s IT Training Awards, with the rest of us still committed to continuing to do our best and try again next year.
- All this week, as part of BCS Training Practitioner Week, we have been discussing different ways in which training practitioners in IT can make a difference and we have been profiling different training practitioners in IT to show how broad a church we are. Well, today it’s the turn of the IT Trainer.

My article ‘How to consign ‘just too late’ training to the bin' was written with trainers in mind but it should equally be read by Project Managers wondering how training practitioners in IT can help them with user engagement.
Matt Elsey from ESRI(UK) gave a fascinating presentation last Wednesday on Enterprise Architecture and GIS. This was a joint meeting with the Enterprise Architecture Specialist Group.
