Please note the public entrance to the building is in Middle Street, not Winston Churchill Avenue.

The car park behind Eldon Building is managed by Portsmouth City Council Traffic Wardens so visitors without permits are advised to park in the nearby roads where you will find a mixture of metered spaces (predominately to the west of the building) and on-street free short term (3 hour) parking predominantly to the east of the building.

Eldon Building is a 10 minutes walk from Portsmouth & Southsea Railway Station, through the Guildhall Square and along a raised pedestrian area between the Guildhall and Portsmouth Library.

Description

If you have harbored thoughts about having your own games company then chances are you are full of ideas about the types of games you want to make. Rather than focus on that, this talk will look at some of the practical, legal and financial considerations involved in setting up a new company in the games space, with a focus on the digital download sector.

About the speaker

John Chasey is a successful entrepreneur in the mobile and games space having extensive experience in both startup businesses and large corporations.

He identified the potential of the mobile phone as a games platform in 2000 and led to his founding of a new company IOMO.

After significant success including three BAFTA nominations and two successive 'Best Mobile Studio' awards, John joined Infospace as part of IOMO's acquisition for $15m at the end of 2004.

John subsequently founded Metismo a cross-platform mobile technology company in 2007 which was acquired by Software AG in 2011.

John currently advises a number of companies in the mobile and technology sector and is also Operations Director of TVR Manufacturing.
