BCS North Staffordshire and Hack Keele have joined forces to bring you a weekend hackathon event on the theme 'IT for Social Good'.

Synopsis

You are invited to participate in teams of up to 5 people to compete for the £100 1st prize with 2nd and 3rd place runners up earning a £50 prize each. There is also a wildcard prize of £50 to be awarded at the judges discretion.

Our guest judge is Professor Dorothy Monekosso - Prof Dorothy Monekosso - Durham University

IT has found it's way into many aspects of our lives and we want this event to be an exploration of ideas which use IT with a clear social benefit.

Your projects simply need to involve IT in some capacity, so they could be a novel way to use existing IT hardware for an alternate purpose, a software application, an IOT device, or any combination of things as long as there's an IT element.

This is a hybrid event - everyone is able to participate remotely although Keele students also have an option of participating in person during the Keele open day on 20th November 2021.

Your final submission will need to have a video or some form of presentation which explains your idea, how you approached the problem and demonstrates your outcome.

To participate you will need a free discord account and you will also need to sign up to devpost.com to submit your entry (also free).

Register your interest via the event Discord server
