Details:

The Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®) has a special event that is held for every Program Increment (5 sprints-ish). This is a large scale, collaborative event including everyone from the Agile Release Train (50 to 125 people). These workshops (run with special approval from the Scaled Agile Framework) are highly interactive events where all participants are involved in one of many teams collaborating together to plan a single Program Increment for a single product.

The schedule roughly contains:

  • Overview of SAFe® Program Increment Planning
  • (Fictional) Business Context
  • Product / Solution Vision
  • Architecture Vision And Development Practices
  • Planning Session 1
  • Draft Plan Review
  • Planning Session 2
  • Final Plan Review
  • Risk ROAMing
  • Confidence Vote
  • Retrospective

These will be fast-paced, high octane sessions with a lot of fun!

This workshop will be led by Aaron and Nick McKenna.

Aaron McKenna is the Commercial Director of McKenna Consultants, along with being a Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®) Program Consultant (3.0 and 4.0), Certified ScrumMaster, Advanced ScrumMaster, Certified Scrum Product Owner, Certified Scrum Professional and Agile Coach. In 2014, Aaron was nominated on the shortlist to receive an award for “Best Agile Coach or Mentor - Process” at the 2014 UK Agile Awards and in 2015 attended the SAFe® Leadership Retreat in Canada.

Nick McKenna is the CEO of McKenna Consultants, along with being a Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®) Program Consultant (3.0 and 4.0), Certified ScrumMaster and Certified Enterprise Coach. Nick wrote his first computer program at the age of 9 and has been helping organisation become more agile for 12 years.

McKenna Consultants are currently implementing SAFe at 4Com Technologies in Bournemouth, so this workshop will have the additional benefit of an experience report of how this PI planning event works in the real world!

The session start off at 6.45pm with pizza and drinks to ensure we can use the full two hours, from 7.00pm - 9.00pm. Refreshments and venue kindly provided by the Ordnance Survey

This presentation is particularly designed for those with experience of using Agile methods

The Agile South Coast Group meets monthly, every second Tuesday of the month, to discuss topics about the whole Agile Experience within local technical organisations and people in the Southampton / Hampshire area. They use differing Agile techniques to explore the space, and their aim is to spread the best practices and avoid the pitfalls applying Agile methodologies within our professional lives.
