The My Digital Future (MDF) programme, developed by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, creates career opportunities for all young people, no matter their background or circumstance. The initiative provides funding and support from BCS’s industrywide network, helping to ensure the next generation of tech specialists is diverse and inclusive.

Donations support the operational costs of the programme, enabling student support programmes and bursaries for those who require them.

Industry volunteers are also vital. They give their time to provide encouragement, guidance and feedback on a regular basis.

Remember the BCS Foundation in your will

A gift in your will, no matter how large or small, is a meaningful way to support an organisation you cherish.

The BCS Foundation is a newly incorporated charitable organisation, part of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT a professional and learned society for all aspects of computing and digital skills, with over 70,000 members in more than 150 countries, offering access to a diverse and active group of professionals.

BCS contributes to and shapes the computing and digital professions, influencing and improving education, providing training and development opportunities, and generating positive policy change in areas where computing and digital skill matter.

The BCS Foundation helps us to fulfil a new role harnessing these resources to address inequalities in access to digital skills education, training, and work. We are incredibly grateful to those who choose to support our purpose of making IT good for everyone.

What type of gift can you leave in your will?

The two most common types of gifts in wills are:

Residuary gifts: Leaving a percentage, or sometimes all, of an estate after all other payments have been made.

Pecuniary gifts: Leaving a specific sum of money.

We recommend that you explore all options with your solicitor. It is important that the gift is described precisely in your will so that the executors are clear on what you intended.

What do I need in order to include a gift to BCS in my will?

To include BCS in your will, you will need to take the following details to your solicitor:

The BCS Foundation
Registered charity number: 292786
Registered address: 3 Newbridge Square, Swindon SN1 1BY

An example of wording you could use: ‘I leave [my, or, [X]% of my residuary estate] to The BCS Foundation, 3 Newbridge Square, Swindon SN1 1BY, registered charity number 292786, for its general charitable purposes. I declare that the receipt of an authorised officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my personal representative.’

Hear from young people supported by The BCS Foundation

Before joining the programme I had no idea what I wanted to do as a career, I had no idea what I wanted to study at university and I didn’t know if I had it in my to get into university. My Digital Future elevates under-represented individuals like myself onto a level playing field.
