Alan Chambers MBE

BCS Jersey is delighted to invite you to a very different type of event. Focusing on communication skills and teamwork - something relevant to all of us. This, together with an opportunity to network with your colleagues in the IT industry makes this an event not to miss.

Jersey BCS and their sponsor for this event, JT, would like to invite you to a BCS networking event, with inspirational guest speaker - Alan Chambers MBE.

Alan's amazing adventures include leading the first British team on an expedition to the North Pole. Lasting a gruelling seventy days and suffering near starvation, they achieved what many said was impossible. So whether it is communication skills, teamwork, or winning beliefs, Alan will share his experiences and the part they play in successful leadership.

Speaker bio:

Alan relates his experiences to business audiences with wonderful clarity, outlining how the values which helped them reach the North Pole apply in any competitive environment. He demonstrated this with the England rugby squad before their assault on the 2003 World Cup, and again two years later when he addressed the national cricket team before they went on to win the Ashes.

At 32, Alan was awarded the MBE by Her Majesty the Queen for Determined Leadership in Constant Adversity.

Alan now takes business leaders on polar expeditions. He believes in leading from behind, watching the team. His mantra revolves around meticulous preparations, taking tough decisions, managing emotions and questioning conventional thinking.

'Alan’s amazing story, highlighting the remarkable focus and leadership he had around the North Pole trip, truly inspired the team in their preparation for the Rugby World Cup' - Martin Johnson OBE, England Rugby World Cup Captain 2003

'Inspirational - He's a genuine hero' - Charles Dunstone, Founder Chairman, Carphone Warehouse
