No-one would disagree with the need for Mentoring in any organisation that wants to succeed, especially those that rely on people working in the rapidly changing technical environment of IT. Perhaps you already have access to a mentoring programme, and would like to review whether this is giving you the benefits you expect? Or maybe you would like to understand more about other mentoring options, either as a Mentee or a Mentor?

This series of events will enable you to gain a better understanding of these options, facilitate you to explore them with other senior people in IT and offer you the opportunity to try some of them out for yourself.

SYNOPSIS:
Mentoring session 1 - Introduction to mentoring in its many forms - March 13

This session will introduce the different types of mentoring e.g. ‘traditional’ mentoring, peer to peer mentoring, bottom-up mentoring, career mentoring, mentoring circles, transition mentoring etc., together with some basics e.g. mentor selection, mentor/mentee management etc. There will an opportunity to discuss and explore your mentoring experiences with your senior IT peers. We will finish with an introduction to the next 3 sessions.

Our main speaker, Jacqui Hogan, current chair of the ELITE group, is an experienced Mentor to senior IT Managers and Technology Entrepreneurs and has trained over 100 Mentors and Mentees. She has over 6 years’ experience running a UK-wide mentoring programme for over 600 STEM participants and recently published the book ‘How to train your Mentor’ (Book Boon). She will be supported by our speakers for sessions 2 and 3, who will each introduce details of their own sessions.

Jacqui will also chair the sessions, provide a link between them and facilitate the collecting of output.
