The BCS Register of Technology Professionals is a public register that helps employers, recruiters, clients and the public verify the professional credentials of BCS members who have chosen to be listed.
Members listed on the register have met the standards required for their membership grade or professional registration and agree to uphold the BCS Code of Conduct.
Why the register matters
Public registers have long been used by professions such as engineering, accountancy and medicine to demonstrate professional standing, accountability and trust.
The BCS Register of Technology Professionals provides a visible way to recognise professional achievement and commitment to high standards across the technology profession. BCS research found that 75% of people would trust an IT professional more if they were listed on a public register and accountable to a code of conduct.
Who appears on the register?
The register includes Professional Members (MBCS), Fellows (FBCS) and members holding eligible professional registrations who have chosen to be listed.
Inclusion on the register is optional. A member's absence from the register does not indicate that they do not hold a BCS membership grade or professional registration.
What information is shown?
Register entries may include:
- Name
- Membership number
- Country
- Membership grade
- Professional registrations held
- BCS join date (if the member chooses to display it)
- LinkedIn profile (if the member chooses to display it)
The register is updated daily from BCS membership systems.
