SYNOPSIS
These days ‘cloud computing’ has become an everyday term that is used by everyone. We are storing our music and photos in the cloud without considering how this technology actually works although it is much more than remote storage.
This talk will explore cloud computing in more detail - its features and potential with infrastructure and software which is operating in the cloud. As part of this, we will take a look at some of the basic concepts and considerations of running a business in the cloud along with how the industry is preparing for future expansion. We will also look at how Staffordshire University students are gaining industry-relevant skills through their Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy system to produce the next generation of cloud experts.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES
Dr Justin Champion
Dr Justin Champion has worked for Staffordshire University now for a number of years. His area of teaching now is exclusively in the area of network communications. He is a member of the university's Cisco teaching team and has a wide set of experiences within this field. He mostly specialises in the area of routing and switching. In addition to his teaching, he is also the award leader for the undergraduate networking provision.
