In this talk Thierry Gregorius will draw on his geospatial experience across multiple sectors to discuss opportunities and challenges with geospatial data. Light-hearted and informative, the presentation will map out the varied landscape of location-based data, from the latest innovations to some things that never change.
Thierry will also explore the age-old question of whether (or not) spatial data is special – and why it matters for data managers and information professionals.
Thierry’s talk will be preceded by a short, informal AGM.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
Over 20 years' experience in various sectors including Oil & Energy, Natural Resources, Land & Property, Environment, and others.
Currently leading the strategic consulting practice at Exprodat (a Getech Group Company), providing management consulting and geospatial services to clients worldwide. At Getech Thierry also works with national governments to high-grade and market their geoscience data to potential investors.
Prior to Exprodat/Getech Thierry held senior leadership positions at Landmark Information Group and Shell International, where he transformed the Data division and the deployment of global GIS and data services, respectively.
He has a passion for helping people and organisations make sense of their worlds and transform how they work, boiling down complexity into simple solutions and discrete steps for implementation. To this end he loves making use of engaging and creative workshop methodologies including gamestorming, design thinking, visual and physical modelling, and LEGO Serious Play (try it, it works!).
