Synopsis

Effective Asset Management is central to many organizations yet is so often misunderstood. Chris Knowles will give some insights into the importance of good practice asset management and the central part played by proper use of data. Drawing on examples across a variety of sectors, the presentation will highlight some of the common challenges faced by asset-intensive organizations and the asset management response. As for the importance of Arches – that will become clear!

About the speaker

Chris has worked in asset management throughout his career both in consultancy and in asset owning organisations in rail, aviation and public telecommunications.

With experience in major project delivery and asset stewardship he has first-hand experience and knowledge of the challenges faced by asset managers.He has assessed and advised on asset management systems in Europe and in Asia across major utility, aviation, highways and rail clients. Examples include Highways England, Transport for London, MTRC (Metro rail – Hong Kong), National Grid, EDF, Ofgem, OPPPA, Modern Terminals (Ports), National Air Traffic Services in the UK and Heathrow Airport.

has developed and given courses on asset management internationally and served for four years as Chairman of the IAM Examinations Board. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, a Fellow of the Institute of Asset Management and a recipient of the IAM Presidents Award for service to the profession.
