Discussions involving the finding, ordering, installing and operating a home Solar PV system started back in December 2020. With 4 quotes in hand, Chris embarked on a new project:
- Chris went for a local supplier who recommended a Tesla Powerwall 13.5Kwh battery with 19 panels.
- The order for around £17k was placed in February 2021 with a 25% deposit.
- The installation of the panels took place until August 2021 with the Powerwall following in September.
Chris will discuss the delays he faced, due to COVID-19 and DNO approval. The frustrations around battery supply chain issues and the need to change energy supplier to get the best tariffs.
And the good news, as of March 2022, Chris has been able to generate all of his electricity demand from solar as well as exporting power at 4.2p/kwh to the grid.
Chris will also discuss two android apps Tesla and SolarEdge which monitor system performance online.
