Interacting with Computers

The scholarly journal Interacting with Computers was launched by the Group in 1987 and is now published by Oxford University Press. It publishes original work from all areas of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), pushing forward HCI theories, methods, and practices. It accepts a range of different submissions including long and short research papers, state-of-art reviews, pictorials, provocations, and case studies.

The First Editor-in-Chief was Dianne Murray, one of the original founders of the Interaction Group. The current Editor-in-Chief is Professor Helen Petrie [link: mailto Helen.Petrie@york.ac.uk] at the University of York.

The BCS HCI Conference Proceedings

Since 1985 the Interaction Group has run the BCS HCI Annual Conference, 2025 will be the 38th edition. The conference brings together researchers and practitioners in HCI, User Experience (UX) and related areas from around the world to present and discuss the latest ideas. The conference is overseen by the Group as the steering committee with a programme committee established each year to carry our full peer review of the submitted papers.

The Conference Papers are available open access in the BCS eWiC's archive and are indexed on the ACM Digital Library. Each year Interacting with Computers publishes a special issue of expanded versions of selected papers from the conference.
