This occupation is found in many different public and private sector organisations who work with large data sets including Government departments, in health, financial and professional services, IT companies, retail and sales and education providers. A data engineer builds systems that collect, manage, and convert data into information accessible and valid for other data colleagues (data analysts and data scientists) to use or for business intelligence analysts to interpret for business requirements.
The role of the data engineer is pivotal to all organisations; ensuring that data pipelines are established to support data scientists and other business stakeholders.
