SYNOPSIS
We are in the midst of the fourth industrial revolution, a rise in technological transformation driven by automation, artificial intelligence, 5G connectivity, and data analytics that will impact every sector of industry. Over 52% of jobs will be transformed in the next five years and 85% of jobs that we cannot even imagine will be created by 2030. Our prosperity as Canadians will depend on our ability to embrace disruption and adapt to the new digital economy.

Michelle Holland will provide her insight on the critical success factors required to meet the opportunities presented by this global revolution. As a leader, policy-maker, and the City of Toronto’s first Innovation Chief, Michelle spear-headed digital innovation within government and across Toronto’s technology ecosystem. She championed collaboration through building partnerships between government, academia, businesses of every scale, incubators and non-profit organizations. Only when we foster the the right environment for Canadian innovation to flourish will we be able to compete on on the global stage.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
Michelle Holland is a highly versatile and respected thought leader. Michelle was elected as City Councillor for the City of Toronto from 2010-2018 and served as the City’s first Chief Advocate for the Innovation Economy where she was the leading voice on technology and innovation.

Michelle created the City’s first Innovation Advisory Committee comprised of 40 CEOs across the tech ecosystem and spear-headed a branding strategy for the innovation sector that developed critical statistical research used to identify Toronto as a global powerhouse. Michelle drove collaboration among stakeholders in response to the Amazon Headquarters (HQ2) location search.

As a graduate of the Director’s Education Program (Institute of Corporate Directors and the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management) she has considerable board experience including the Hockey Hall of Fame, Design Exchange and Art Gallery of Ontario.
