Synopsis

First proposed by Nobel Laureate, Richard Feynman in 1982 in a lecture entitled “Simulating Physics with Computers”, quantum computers have taken almost 4 decades to be realised in reality.

Harnessing the laws of quantum physics to perform computations beyond the reach of the current generation of supercomputers, the technology has the potential to impact every area of our lives, and create a future we cannot imagine, just as our parents and grandparents could not imagine the digital revolution nor its impact.

In this presentation, we look at the current state of play of quantum computing and how the UK is supporting the development of this new era in computing.
