Synopsis

When selecting our EVA London Research Workshop (RW) Delegates, we look for early career post graduate researchers and academics, and independent artists, who have proposed exciting and original ideas, that are ‘work in progress’, rather than completed projects.

This programme also allows us to broaden out from our main conference topics and to explore more eclectic and innovative concepts. It presents an opportunity for our more established EVA delegates to enjoy new ideas, and to offer supportive questions and advice. Often this RW experience encourages these delegates to make successful full or short paper, peer reviewed, proposals, for our EVA London conference, a year or two later.

For 2025, as part of our aim to develop our support for early career researchers and digital artists, EVA London has 16 Research Workshop delegates with presentations over each of the afternoons of Thursday 10th and Friday 11th July.

While many postgraduate students from our most prestigious digital university courses will be represented, other exhibitors may be recent graduates or independent artists. We are also delighted this year to welcome RW delegates from School of Visual Arts, New York.

All our RW exhibitors have been selected for their original and thought-provoking ideas, and in many cases, very innovative use of the latest technology.

As this Pop Up Show takes place in many different rooms at BCS, it will not be possible to run it in Hybrid mode.

Details

We will begin the evening in our lecture room at 6 pm with a 30-minute presentation from a specialist Keynote speaker with a very relevant message for our early career participants, and their tutors too!

Afterwards, and whichever afternoon our Research Workshop delegates are formally presenting, our RW delegates will be allotted a desk space around BCS where they can meet you and ‘Show and Tell’ their ideas on a small group, or on a 1:1 basis, in an informal and friendly atmosphere.

Drinks will be available through this part of the evening, as you explore all of the ‘pop-up’ demonstrations and make new contacts.
