Synopsis

We will be joined by Material Focus to discuss recent trends and emerging concerns in the world of e-waste, including the rise of FastTech, vapes and how this is impacting the need for more critical raw materials and how recycling, repair and reuse plays an important role in combating this.

Material Focus will discuss their research in partnership with Bloomberg Intelligence and the Royal Society of Chemistry into the growing gap between the amount of copper produced and the rising demand for copper in the UK and internationally.

As well as the significant role that recycling of copper could play in helping to fill this gap, particularly by recycling the copper held onto or thrown away by UK households. There are many unused electricals that people store away in their homes without realising these items contain valuable materials that could be given a new life. E-waste includes anything with a plug, battery or cable.

That is why to mark International E-Waste Day this October 14th, we’re encouraging everyone to join the Great Cable Challenge - a nationwide campaign to tackle the millions of cables and other electricals sitting idle across the UK, to save the copper inside them from going to waste.
Join the session to find out more and how you can get involved.
