Synopsis

The promise of the AI-powered product team is that everyone gets a lot more T-shaped. Specialisms collapse, supposedly: all skills are available to everyone, and we can go much further and faster. Some of this seems to hold for startups. But what happens when those approaches arrive in teams in large organisations? This talk will draw on my experience as Head of Software at the UK Government’s Incubator for AI and leading hundreds-strong engineering functions within the Department for Education and in NHS England.

About the speaker

Duncan Brown is CTO for Digital Prevention Services at NHS England. Before that he was Head of Software Engineering at the British Government's Incubator for AI after over a decade in startups and consultancy around publishing, edtech and the public sector. He lives in South East London.
